Has anyone updated yet and if so do you notice any significant changes?

Rico - Ghost pictures appear if your therming and hit the power button just once by accident when trying to zoom. The only way to get rid of that is a fresh NUC. Could that be happening? I'm also going to try and do so later tonight and get out and do some surgery ;o)

Had no problem with mine. Downloaded, updated, completed a pixle repair, and even might be a better picture. Don't feel like going back to previous firmware to do a comparison of picture. Didn't even loose my sight in numbers. 1.25 384

After I updated was able to go in and check my x and y for the crosshare and it was still there along with all the other menu options plus the pixle repair, if that is what you are asking. Are you sure you downloaded the correct update for ur scope. Double check the firmware version of the file on SD CARD and as long as it ends in 702 you have the right one. I know I'm probably stating the obvious. If all else fails call ATN and they should correct your issue.

I'm glad this update saves your X & Y as I forgot to write them down before installing the last. However, I'm still going to do it before I update tonight!

I did my update last night and everything went smooth as ice! I jotted down my "X" & "Y" just in case but I didn't need to do so thank goodness. I didn't have any time to really see any differences but I am sure the ATN Tech knows what the hell they are doing and thank goodness for us they do ;o) I am actually very impressed with the email I received stating the firmware update available prompting you to do so. Also, the above post in regards to Tech Support I have spoken to them every time I have called BUT you usually have to hold for quite a bit. But they will answer keep holding!

Don't update to 702 my scope was crystal clear with the previous 677 update! I just updated and tried out a 16 oz bottle with hot water in it like I have done before at 100 yds and with the new 702 firmware the image turned to crap & had bad resolution & I couldn't even make out the heat signature I will try to post before and after pics

I updated as well and am now seriously regretting it! Is there anyway to reverse this horrid process and get back my old version, which by the way was great!

Did you save the previous firmware to your computer when you first downloaded it? Might still be there for you to reload.
And anyone one else having problems with the new update, contact ATN repeatedly until you get through. Make sure they know there's a problem and you want a resolution!

Yes, I still have the older firmware edition saved too micro SD. I tried to re-install the older version but could never get the sight to prompt me with the (update firmware) screen. Tried several times to no avail. Gonna keep at it and try some other tactics.

All,
I spoke to an ATN tech support specialist. This guy (wish I took his name down) was very helpful and knowledgeable about the product and technical aspects. He said and recommended that if you are updating your firmware for the device that this file name needs to be renamed from example thor_hd_2.3.05.702.bin to thor_hd.bin prior to installation. We did not dwell on the reasons why this is not documented. I can say that the firmware update was successful without the need for a hard reboot (remove battery cap) and the device was properly recognized after completion. He recommended that if the firmware was installed in any other way than how I described, then it should be re-installed in the recommended manner. So for all those who have some sort of issue after update, try what was recommended and I have a strong feeling you will see improvement.
Think of these optics as computers first and a weapon sight second from a manageability standpoint. Conversely, a weapon sight first and a computer second from a usability standpoint once they are in a stable state.
Best Regards,
Joshua J3L

Tom, tried your suggestion and its a no go. Oddly enough when the .566 edition was on the SD, even after factory restore the only noticeable difference was that my reticle had disappeared and I couldn't select it in the display category. Strike one!! Also tried renaming the firmware version to thor_hd.bin. Did a factory restore, hard reboot, pixel correction and NUC'ed it and the image is even worse than before!!! Indoors the image is acceptable but as soon as you point it outside, the image goes to crap. Strike two!!! The firmware version listed in the settings category has been and continues to be thor_hd_2.3.05.702.bin, it seems as though the device isn't recognizing any firmware version except the .702. Even by resetting the factory specs, the firmware version remains, there has to be a way to completely reboot the computer back to the original firmware, any suggestions ATN!!!!!

I'm back from 17-Days in Maui ;o) Sadly while on the 80 degree beach all I thought about was getting back to Therm Predators and Vermin! I also wondered while there what it would be like over there where ambient temps are fairly consistent in the mid 70's? I guess Spring will be upon us soon enough for my test there! Hunting tonight will advise on new firmware update as I wasn't able to fully test before my trip.

It gets into your blood like a disease!!! Good luck with the new update, my sight picture was awesome before the dreaded .702 update. Hopefully yours will hold just the way it was, GOOD LUCK and good hunting.

I sat behind the THOR 640 5X last night in 28 degree weather for an hour observing the creek bottom. Due to the fact I had a scope at an ambient temperature of 70 degrees I had to NUC every 2 mins. However my sight picture and all other aspects worked flawlessly. I will say that as time passed the longer I could go (slightly) before NUC was performed again. Max time between went from 2-Min to max 4-5 Min's. I think due to scope getting acclimated to surrounding temps but only a guess. I'm going to try to stay out tonight for 1-2 hours so we shall see! I will say that none of the pictures on any of the last 3 firmware versions gave me a picture like that seen through my scope itself.

Victory at last!!! I decided to try out the Thor this afternoon after almost three weeks of a terrible sight picture, due in part, "to what I perceived" to be the .702 update . To my giddy surprise the sight picture was not only back but better than ever! Now keep in mind that I have tried "everything" that I could think of, NUCing, restoring factory settings, renaming update .702 and even downgrading firmware to .566 and nothing had worked up until now. After my last desperate attempt at therming I unhooked the power pac and left it in the case for almost 5 days. All of a sudden the thing is flawless!!!! Im not sure what happened, possibly a hard, hard, reboot who knows. What I do know is that I'm back in business and ready to scope!
