Have been having major jamming issues with my old Rem mod. 742 30.06. After 36 years of faultless service it has finally called it quits and advice from old school gunsmiths is to retire it. So we started to look around at what is available in 30 cal semi and accurate. Started to read good things about the DPMS G2 .308 platform and this is what we settled on. Have done something I said I never would and have moved over to the 'dark side' of black guns. Feel free to give me ***** - all my mates are.   |

Nice rifle Odin! I love my DPMS Oracle LR308. Not a tack driver like your bull is, but accurate enough and fun (expensive!) to shoot!  |

Will have a play with it - maybe try the XS on it, although for the type of hunting it will be used for the narrow FOV may be a small issue.
Maybe gas expansion channels in the barrel custom made barrel suppressor to go with it and a carbon sleeve over the lot for a fully suppressed system.
Comes with 3-9 optics which will probably be ok for out to @ 500 or so.
Will have a look at 110gr handloads and cranked up velocity for most deer with 180 - 220's for the bigger stuff like Samba and Wapati or smashing through heavy scrub.
As it is currently setup it is clover leafing at 100m.
Seems that most of the AR15 custom parts fit this rig so the sky is really the limit if you wanted to go nuts with it.

Popped out to the range with the new toy last night. Tried it at 500.  Happy considering it only has shitty optics on it at present. |
