Hello!
I have experience with Gen.1 and Gen.2 and want to share some suggestions:
1. Both Gens have a very short Weaver mount! I have Benelly Argo rifle and X-Sight mounting is too far from my eye!! Dear ATN support, please produce some Weaver mount like for ATN Spartan scopes!!!!!!!!!!!
2. Both Gens have no fast suspend mode. Just for switching off the display. Please add switching ON/OFF some feature because display is very bright and deers detecting me in the tree.... for example 1-short click on POWER button = Display ON/OFF, 1-long click POWER button = x-sight ON/OFF dialogue.
3. Gen.1 have a high power consumption even when it's OFF!!! I solve this problem not fully tighting the battery bay transporting to the place of hunting.. I think it's a hardware bug. Gen.2 have no this problem. Gen.2 batteries hold the charge if inserted and OFF.
4. MiMH batteries have only 1.2V fully charged. Sights are designed for 1.5V. So such features like Photo/Video recording become unavailable after 1 hour. Can this problem be solved by enternig a lower power trash hold level by firmvare -- I don't know. Also I don't know can I useing NiZn battery (it is 1.6V fully chardged). Can you tell me something about NiZn??
5. Gen.1 have some SERIOUS advantages over Gen.2. I was disapointed when I replased my Gen.1 to Gen.2 becuse field of view in Gen.1 was WIDER, Display had no such resolution like in Gen.1 but Gen.1 display is WIDER also!!! I just got a better picture at Gen.1 3-12 than at Gen.2 3-14/5-20. May be Gen.2 useing not full screen mode? I found Gen.2 display have unused border area. Also Gen.2 have 1-2-3 broken pixels, Gen.1 had no this problem. Dear support, can you make Gen.2 display without borders at the full screen?
6. Gen.1 have 1 more advantage that I can't found in Gen.2. If the battery is fully chardged, sight in night mode, medium mode. After making a picture (one click at the left button) the sight going into some "TURBO MODE!!!" Night picture becomes very bright and clear! I can't complettely describe what is happed but you may watch the result here at youtube:
not any additional illumination was added!! Gen.1 have this "Turbo-mode". Gen.2 have no.
7. Obsidian 2.16 is half-working. Needed "old android fix" like was for 2.15 version. 2.16 is only main menu operational at 4.2.2 android. All other features (zeroing, viewfinder, gallery) crashed the application. Seems this all features need "old android fix" for each of them!
But I like my X-sight! It just a great brake-through in night optics... Please made some fixes I described. Sorry for language mistakes, I'm russian. Best regards!
PS.!! FORGOT one more suggesion: Gen.2 magnification is smooth but very slow! sometimes owner stopped pushing at magnification button, but x-sight 2 continuing magnification for 3-5 seconds. Please add a setting:
1. smooth magnification (like it is now)
2. fast magnification (1 click = +1 to magnifier: x3 -> x4 -> x5 -> x6 -> etc.)
Thanks!
