Trying to get acquainted with my new 5-20 X II. Downloaded and installed the newest .619 firmware, no issues. One shot zero was incredibly accurate ( I literally laughed out load while zeroing it in at 50yds.) I'm using the sunshade with the 1/2" hole insert installed at the 'muzzle' end. The daytime view is slightly 'washed out' but doable, the night vision is unusable. I played with everything setting wise, I.R. light intensity, aim of beam, internal N.V. sensitivity. Could barely see a white spoked wheel of my trailer at 30 yds. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I have seen on U tube that NV improves when using the insert with the hole, was thinking of trying to decrease the hole size? Any thought s would REALLY help. Thanks, Don

Night Vision is useless, we even have a decent amount of moonlight tonight. I'm ready to call the Customer Service and go through the motions I guess

Have you taken the daytime can off the front? Is your IR torch on? - you need to push the + - buttons on the top together, then you can use the + or - to increase or decrease IR intensity. What are your NV settings on? I have mine set to medium or low sensitivity depending on the night. I also do not like the green (may just be my eyes) and think that the black/white gives better definition.

My I.R. light seems to be different than ones I've read about on this forum. My light has no markings but a 4 position turnable cap switch on the end, it has a picture of 2 batteries etched in the side for proper install direction. The objective bell rotates for flood to spot. The I.R. works as I can see dark screen when it is off, when I turn it on I get 3 levels off light that starts out way too intense and increases from there. I've tried Low, medium and high sensitivity in set up. The White and Green background, lens hole plate on /off. The best view I had last night was N.V. on with no I.R. light at all, we had a decent amount of moonlight but still wouldn't been able to see anything close to clear enough to make out any movement. Boy, you look into that eyepiece long enough and I get this one Green eye effect that screws with you for awhile. The Black/white is better for me that way. Wondered if this Hard Reboot or re install of Firmware would help? or should I just bite the bullet and call Cust Serv.?

I am wondering if your IR filter is stuck on the day mode. Have heard of this and guys have suggested slapping the side of the scope to free it. Suggest you ring customer services and talk to them before - have them walk you through a verbal diagnostic on the phone - may be something very simple. have heard that there is a 'new' IR torch that they is supplied with the XS2 - sounds like yours is one of them. Customer service number is 800-910-2862 or 650-989-5100 - I called them last week and they actually answered - surprised me - they were also reasonably helpful.

Don, concur with Odin in that it sounds like you got the newer IR850 light. That should be a bonus, but I guess we'll have to wait n see.
And Calling customer service is never a bad idea when stumped, but you could start with a factory reset and reload .619 to see if that helps.

Odin & Tom, Thanks for the info. I hope to get to this sometime tomorrow, leaving for Elk season hunt and want to leave the Mrs. with some defensible means while I'm gone (she can handle the hungry critters, very good shot) I will let you all know what I can get done. Thanks again

Just got off the phone with ATN, 'Alson' is sending me a shipping label for return to work on scope. Should have back in 3 weeks. The coyotes will have good thick coats by then. I'll keep you all in the loop. Have a Happy Thanksgiving all, Don

Iv just purchased my x sight last Saturday, and I wouldn't get too excited about the new ir,it'll probably be ok for airifle ranges but I'm leaving mine off in favour of a night master 800, u get what you pay for in that department me thinks!

My xsight 2 5-20 came with the new ir850 with the 4 position tail switch. I'm easily seeing targets in pitch black moonless nights at a known 250 yards. I too was prepared to buy an aftermarket illuminator but was pleasantly surprised by the ir850.

From what I have seen 95% of the night time performance is in the setup. Take time to align and focus your IR to the field of view at base mag. You also need to be very precise with your focus at night as depth of view is not big ie constant focusing as you scan. All this comes together and it is a pretty good unit.

My scope is back from ATN G.smith. N.V. is much better now. Odin, I agree with using the 'White' setting, not as hard on my eye. Its been too damn cold at nights lately here in Colorado to get a whole lot of time with it. Finally mounted it back on to the AR platform. The zero method on this scope just blows me away at how easy and accurate it is. Would be nice to name the Profile though. I'll will play this weekend and follow up on my thoughts. Thanks again to all for your help

I use the wifi to my phone to name all of my profiles (with the Obsidian app). I name the them by ammo name, as I only use the sight on one gun. I have seven profiles, and at this time, all of them work great. I am not sure if you can name them in the scope only.

Aaron, do you use an iPhone or an android app phone? My iPhone hasn't worked for editing profile names since early January. And you have 7 profiles? Mine is maxed out at 6.
