After every sturtup of my ATN THOR-HD 640 5-50x I must perform NUC (non-uniformity compensation) procedure. It's disappointing. Should everyone need to do the same?

Yes this is completely normal. This is also true with every thermal optic available. Some do it automatically some are manual. With the ATN line it is manual. Upon every start you ill need to NUC the unit. This should have been on the card that was included with your scope from the factory.

I have mine sitting in my bench watching through my app until rats appear. Once they do I NUC then get ready due to length of time focused on one spot. Matter of fact I've found it useful to actually power off and fully reboot due to image burn still present when simply NUC'n.
