What's the best short range ir? I hunt aprox 50 yards in heavy woods so I'm afraid of wash out by the more powerful irs. The stock one is perfect but I'd like to get a little back up. I'm one of those unlucky guys that has to plan for something to go wrong.

I use a. T20. 940nm. It works great for close range.

Fully agree with squirrelkiller, I use a 940nm for close range stuff (rats and indoor roosting feral pigeons) and 850nm for rabbits. Both torches are T38R, overkill but no head rattle and very sharp beam pattern when focused.
