Anyone have a chance to take a good look at the new CMMG Mutant 7.62x39mm yet. Cross between an AR and AK platform. msrp around 1500$ looks like something I want to check out. Tactical gun of the year per American Rifleman

Having shot many 7.62x39 firearms, I would pass personally on it. The round does not do anything that special and has come up in price. If you are looking for a 30 cal intermediate cartridge and currently own an AR pattern rifle I would go 300BO. It does not have quite as good ballistics, but it suppresses well. Just my 2 cents.

7br is probably the best cartridge to either suppress or use full loads. 120 grainers can be shot at 1050fps with trailboss and around 3000fps with Ar 8208. Accuracy with this case is superb

Accuracy with this case is superb I do not have any experience with the 7br cartridge so I will assume that it performs excellent, but it is obsolete and brass is no longer produced as far as I know. The reason I suggested 300BO vs 7.62x39 was due to similar ballistics, with the added benefits of nice subsonic loads. I also assumed bobgen2 likely owned an AR pattern rifle so a upper chambered in 300BO would be extremely cost effective.

Just bought one of the Ching-Chang versions of the Russian AK-12. The JTS 12ga. semi-auto. Heard/seen plenty of +/_ on it but the price was good for a semi-auto with sights and looks mean. I'll probably run buck shot or slugs. Haven't had to the range yet.
