Can you use rechargeable CR2 batteries in the ABL-1000. Non-rechargeable CR-2 batteries are 3.2 Volts. Rechargeable CR-2 are 3.7 Volts, 0.5 Volts (15%) higher.

Actually the rechargeable batteries will be 4.2v after charging, hence the problem with too high of voltage problems,

While you are correct that ”Most” li-ion, while they are labeled 3.7 they are really 4.2 when fully charged and in use quickly drop to 3.7 Volts which is where they stay for most of their time. For example the Uttrafire TR18650 (Label as 3.7V @ 3000mAhr) read 4.18->4.2 volts when fully charged.
HOWEVER: is not true 100% of the time (Slightly different chemistries)? The CR2 batteries that I have, CBL RCR2 are labeled 3.7 V @ 400mAhr. Fully charged they read 3.71V. The Watson CR2 is listed at 3.0V 200MAh and reads 3.64 V fresh out of the charger. Non-rechargeable CR2’s read 3.25 Volts. (3.71-3.25)/3.25 = 14.25%
Hence my question, is 0.46 volts/15% higher acceptable. PS Newer chemistry is 4.35V

I think you are referring to the li-po which are not the same as lithium voltage which 99% of the cr2-cr123 batteries are. If you are using the li-po type, I would think they would work OK. You also need a charger with the correct setting ( Software) to charge the li-po type.

OK, its been 18 months and no one from ATN got off their *** and answered this -- that is pathetic at best. This is a technical question, not some BS for owners to speculate about. Now alow me to speculate. Most equipment that works of 3.7V Li-on batteries has a boost converter to step it up to whatever voltage the logic chips need (typically 5V). Things like a rechargable light or your cell phone also have a buck converter to step 5V from USB down to 3.7 (4.2v when fully charged) for your battery so it does not explode.
Again -- VERY disapointed in ATN for not answering this question.
