Hi guys, I own a bad stock illuminator, never used in the field ( probably with IR emitter burnt ) . Turned on (5/6 times maximumin) at home. Batteries fully charged and always removed from the device after use. On warranty until 19/09/2019 but ATN ask to me $ 100 for send it back on repair under warranty. ( What the *****! I could buy it new at that price! ) Do you think it is possible to replace the IR emitter with this? I haven't had time to disassemble it and check compatibility. Have any of you already done it ? Thanks! NB: I already have a good illuminator but I would like to leave the fixed stock one on and turn on the "power" one only when necessary.

The IR Torch that came with my scope died also. ATN replaced mine under warranty, so I'm surprised they didn't replace yours. I still have the broken one and have attempted to work on it a couple times, but for the life of me can't figure out how to get the lens portion apart to even access the IR LED. If I could get it apart without destroying it, I'm sure there is a replacement LED available somewhere. I will say this, they are built to take a beating, too bad the electronics aren't as strong as the housing!

You can take these apart and replace the LED in them. I have repaired mine this way. I have edited this post to include more information now that I have the unit in front of me. The replacement LED is a 3w infrared LED 850nm. You can change it to several different wavelengths or NM but each will have a different performance aspect and ATN performs best with 850nm. This replacement is actually a "chip". Its usually called a 3535 16mm chip. You can pick em up on ebay for about $10 for 5 of them(eBay item# 173272046293).
To disassemble the illuminator you will need to remove the ring that is inside the lens end of the housing. It threads down against the lens to hold it in place. Its a black ring with 2 notches opposite of each other. I used a small punch and lightly tapped mine out but a tool could be made to remove the ring. There is an o-ring between this retaining ring and the lens that you need to take out and the lens will fall out. Now you just take the switch end or battery cap off and screw the adjustable lens housing to the right until it comes off and will slide off toward where the switch housing was. Now that you can access the LED chip set easily, there are 2 rings around the chip set. A silver outer ring and black inner ring. Both have 2 small holes across from each other. I removed these rings using 2 small punches that I put into the holes and a screw driver to twist the punches. If you have made it this far the rest is just paying attention to what order you remove things and which wire is + and which is - because you will have to unsolder the old chip set and solder the new one in . When putting the LED back in and screwing the rings back in just take your time and be careful with the wires as they are very small. Hopefully this information will help you get your factory illuminator back in action.

I have had THREE ATN-IR850 Pro's die on me in less than a year. ATN has replaced them all with no questions asked. I wish I had bought a reaper now, and probably will when this fourth one goes.

Thanks to the advice of kurbdogg I finally repaired the stock light ... Now I can use this always on at low power for short distances and turn on the other, the power one, to see better and at any distance. Best Regards Dino
