Perhaps it has to do with the fact that the Israeli Gov't is prototyping a new CQB weapon based on the ATN scope. (reads..buy stock) Using the ATN scope with an additional software upgrade and a flip up eyepiece that keeps the image upright no matter the cant of the rifle. The remote monitor is a flip up unit mounted to the brain bucket over the dominant eye of the shooter. Allows the shooter to point the weapon around, over, beside or under an obstacle in order to engage a target without exposing the shooter's vital body parts. ie., your head. Bull's eye center mass or head shots using whatever finger you choose, whatever arm required in order to position the rifle, and at whatever cant the rifle is at without exposing you to lethal fire. All with built in nite vision. Experimenting with it as CQB platform on a rifle similar to the M4 platform. The scope I saw looked very similar to the XSII 3-14. Only maybe a little more robust version to stand up to battle conditions. Scope looks like a 3-14 with the same operator interface buttons as all other ATN scopes. Now that a Gov't is interested in it militarily, maybe they don't want the technology to be reverse engineered. If you ask me, a little bit late to put that horse back in the barn. Not that you need the obsidian app to operate the scope. Just to rename profiles or see it on your phone. Maybe it's the Obsidian technology they are using to interface the new eyepiece. ATN. Heading to a battle field near you.

No matter what the reason they say it is. It’s to monitor those with night vision tactical advantage over the feds creeping onto your private property trespassing
