Im looking for a creative and fun solution to resolving pest & predator problems.
Goal: To be alerted of a motion occurance when my pellet gun is pointed, and unattended for hrs, at an animal burrow or entry point into my yard.
There must be some way to incorporate motion detection app/software to the HDMI output to activate an alert(audio or text) or a set of contacts connected to either a light or sound device. I'll take even fragmented ideas and maybe I can complete the solution. Just trying to save time and benefit from others knowledge.
Equipment: ATN X-Sight HD II, Benjamin Maurader.22 pellet gun, long HDMI cable attached to somekind of display(laptop would be great, if I could fugure out how to configure for HDMI input)
Thanks

Have you thought about a simple driveway alert system? You will not get video on most, but will be alerted to any motion. Many have range from senor to alert box of 1000 feet and are inexpensive. Habor Freight has them on sale for under $10 bucks from time to time.

PaPa33, your problem is very easy to solve. Many trail cameras are Bluetooth capable, simply connect your devices and react.
TupeloJim has a good approach, but it may not be sensitive enough for small animals.
Either way, there are two approaches and I am sure others will jump in.

This sounds like fun!!
Do you want to be able to remotely fire the gun as well?

If You are stand shooting I would purchase a Day/Night security camera system. With these you can set active zones in the picture and e-mail or text alerts on an activation. Put a hard drive in the base unit and it will also record. Set a 4 camera unit up at my place that I got off ebay for NZ$285 delivered.

Tupelojim Silvergoose & Odin, all good ideas depending on application. Tupelojim, Driveway alert systems certainly the most affordable and for the right setup would work great on strictly an alert basis. Odin, The small 4 camera DVR system, sounds like a great approach and now makes me wonder how I can tap in to my current surveilance system at home. I have both a DVR and an NVR system. the NVR should be adaptable but I will have to find the time to make it work. The Trail camera systems with wifi/blue tooth and email capabilities sounds like the easiest and most versatile. One of my fellow deer lease buddies has just set a couple of these up pointed to feeders and it does work well. Odin: Does your camera system require 120v?

A remote shootung system would be a blast and I would enjoy designing and building a system when I get more time available. Currently, I have other wishlist items ahead if this, so I won't be buying one either. Would be super cool however.

With a POE NVR you should be able to get @ 100m from camera to recorder if that helps, Then if you use a Base-T HDMI extender you should be able to get another 100m over CAT6 to a monitor Hope that helps with any nutting out. Dont go BIT -T Hdmi as it is slower and you loose video quality with the reduction at transmit and the rebuild at viewing end.
