Hello,
X-Sight II 5x20
Firmware version 2.1.07.767
Energizer Lithium Batteries with 20 mAh External Battery source.
Rail and Mounts recently inspected / serviced by master gunsmith.
I am having issues with the unit not holding zero. It seems once I power off or come back the next day, I have to re-zero.
I am trying to re-install the firmware in case the original download was corrupted.
Does this have to be done on a PC or can I use a Mac to download the firmware to the micro SD card ? My Unit does not give me they typical message to "Update Firmware"
Secondly, I cannot get my unit to format the SD Card. What am I missing ?
Any help would be appreciated. I am a first time participant on this forum and a newbie with the X-Sight.

Hello yeprat,
You can download the firmware PC or Mac, does not matter. The scope will not start the firmware update because you already have the latest one installed. I sent you a PM with a link to download a firmware file that will prompt the message. Maybe re-installing FW will help with the issue. Make sure you do a factory reset right after the update and choose the correct lens/device type.
Does the unit see the SD card in the first place? Format the SD card in the PC (FAT32) then copy .bin file.
Let me know if this helps.

A workaround may be to export your profiles after you set zero and before you turn off the scope. When you use the scope next import the profiles after you turn it on. Let us know if that works.

Thanks for the information. I will try to reinstall the firmware to see if that does the trick. I know the unit sees the SD card. There are some photos, etc on the card and I can access them.
i forgot to mention an important piece of information in my initial post. I apologize !
The scope is mounted on a TC Pro Hunter with a 45-70 Govt. barrel. It's my pig gun at the farm. Among the members reading this updated thread, is this heavy caliber a concern for the electronics on the Unit ?
Further discovery reveals the unit will not group anything past 50 yards. It will hold a tight group at 50. At 100 it is all over the place. One shot was 9 inches down. the next shot was 4" inches high and 3" right. When using the zoom, the shots are off the paper.
Fingers crossed for the firmware update. Thanks

Here is an update for my issue.
Val, who is an admin for this site sent me an re-named firmware update for the current version of the Firmware. My scope did not recognize the file at first. I renamed it from Xsight.bin to Xsight2.bin and it was recognized. I installed the update and I am happy to say that the firmware update solved my issue. I am assuming when I initially updated the firmware when I received the X-sight, something in the process corrupted the software. Only after I re-installed the software did I see a solution.
My thanks to Val for the link. You are my new Hero !

Good result. First and foremost your unit is a computer. It likes things been done in logical and sequential steps. The optics are almost secondary to the computer side of things. On the whole though a very good unit.

Can an external battery be used while doing the update?
