After using my XS2 for a couple of years, here are my considered thoughts.
I do not think that massive magnification is needed for night shooting. Almost everything I have shot with this scope has been well under 100m. In day mode I have not really used it over 8x mag. In night mode I have regretted not been able to get below 5x mag.
For me I think that a scope that does what the XS2 does, but with a 1-6 magnification range would be awesome. 1-2 x for scanning and picking up animals and 4-5 x for precise shot placement
Longer range shooting at night scares me as I wonder what is out beyond what I can see and identify. Also longer shots can lead to wounded animals that can be hard to find - I want to be as close as i can get and drop them hard.
May not be what a lot are looking for, but from where i sit, less is better. On that note I night stalk and dont stand shoot, so maybe I am a little different. Cheers odin

I'll second that. I'd even take a stripped down version. No bells and whistles, just a scope that will turn on and do what it is supposed to do.
So, no GPS, Wifi, BT or recording ability.

Yes most of what I do at night is stalk farm and light scrub blocks. Keep the wind in the face Use the scope and IR to scan and move slow and quiet. Most pigs i can get to within 20m of and just plug them in the ear with a fully suppressed .22. never bothered with RAV or such like as I am more interested in close in and a sure drop. Best stalk was 3 in a mob dropped before they realized something bad was going down - that was from about 18 - 20m in a reasonable breeze which shows just how quiet the rig is.

Odin, again you have hit the nail on the head. Large magnification and night hunting do not mix. While I large on 100 acres my shooting range is limited to about 50-75 yards at night. The last thing I need is a wounded animal walking off of the property.
I use the 3-14 power unit and most of the time the scope is set at 8 and below. I have also added a green laser to my unit to further pinpoint my shot, I would like to see this as an option. The green is very visible to the night scope.
The other benefit to lower magnification is the fact that the unit can be made smaller and therefore lighter.
Odin, I hope someone at ATN will read your comments and respond in some manner. I am still waiting for input to my questions.

Would be perfect, as long as the price matched the no frills, just turn on and use unit. All the extra BS just causes problems with all the associated firmware that is required. I'm afraid ATN is just using the wrong hardware suppliers. I just bought a set of Bushnell Bi-nocks with night vision, for $250, now only $200 at Amazon www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T9N2Z8O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it puts my X-sight ll and 4K Pro to shame with it's night vision, and built in IR light. I also have some cheap security cameras with IR night vision, that work far better than anything I've got from ATN.
