I thought it was important to have a discussion on burn rates for powders. Powders that burn slower create more pressure and thus speed. Powders that burn faster peak before the bullet leaves the barrel. So some of the questions are, why so many powders and why use a fast powder over a slow one? Why are some powders for rifles and some for hand guns? Why are some powders good on a focused range of bullet/cartridges vs others? Primers work the same way. while I do reload, I am no expert on it. I can make good loads for what I need. So this is an open ended question for the Reload Yodas out there to let it fly. Explain the hows and why’s of powders and calibers.

Without getting into a lot of technical jargon the best answer I give give is the following: All rifles and their respective calibers and bullets are different. Just like men. That is why you can buy pants in different waist sizes and inseam lengths. You would want them to fit correctly!
