Okay, was curious if my 50 Beowulf would be to much, but after watching the 50 BMG I may just mount my X-Sight to the Beowulf.

It should be said that what the video does not show or mention is that the unit only survived a few shots from the .50 BMG. This is why the X-Sight is only rated up to .308.

Joe, understood your point. The Beowulf doesn't have much more kick than my 308 so I think I'm good. If something goes sideways I'll let everyone know.

Definitely not advisable for 50 bmg. The scope survived a total of 14 shots before its untimely death. I also have a 50 Beowulf and have mounted it up before and it did survive, I cant tell you to do it though.

I know this thread is old but I've had a discussion on this topic with both atn representatives and my customers as well. One of the biggest things I hear is my scope won't stay zeroed on my.50bmg. And you'll get this from the cheapest scopes all the way up to the most expensive scopes. Recoil is part of the reason but there is another reason as well. Those big tank like muzzle breaks on .50bmgs are designed to use gas to propel the gun away from you to help reduce recoil. Now there is still some recoil until the projectile exits the barrell and the gas escapes. When the has escapes it goes through the break vents and pushes the gun forward. Scopes are designed with the thought process of your standard recoil ( recoil that pushes into you). When they are made. But the .50bmg has some slight regular recoil but then immediately propels itself forward so your throwing your scope backwards then immediately throwing it forwards thing of it as being inna destruction derby and ur backing up to hit an apponent and then you hit but he keeps going forward good way to get whiplash your doing the same thing to your scope on a .50bmg its the forward gas propelled recoil that messes em up its like throwing your scope at a brick wall. That's why I use vortex scopes on my .50bmg that no fault warranty is amazing for that reason lol
