I received my new 4k Pro 3x14 on 4/26/18 and found several issues with it.
1. Randomly freezes. Has happened a few times.
2. Randomly resets date/time. That’s happened a couple times.
3. 120 fps video recording, not an option, only 30 and 60 fps work.
4. Big round dial on left is some times slow to respond when turned. Takes several clicks of the knob to get menu items to move once.
5. Bluetooth not found in the menu, no way to turn off. BT icon is displayed in the upper right corner of the home screen though. I don’t use BT so I didn’t try to connect.
6. GPS is supposed to be one of the sources for setting the clock according to the manual, but it’s not an option in the settings. It’s not listed in the menu settings to even turn it on or off.
My main reason for buying the 4k was the 120 fps video recording and it doesn’t work, not even an option in the menu.
I downloaded the firmware from ATN’s site, same version the scope came with. Reloaded firmware, did a factory reset, set the correct device type, re-entered BC information, etc., but didn’t help, still the same issues.
I emailed ATN support and told them of all the problems I was having and here is what I got in response.
Hope all is well with you today.
I would be glad to assist you in regards to the Atn app for the 4K x-sight it would be the Obsidian app, I would have to inform you we have been advise to inform you the Atn app at this time is not working our engineers are working on it as we speak, we are not aware of the release but it maybe within the next month, now for the 4K scope they are working on the firmware as well to work out some of the kinks
so they have removed some of the features the technicians should be done with the firmware within a estimated month. we are truly sorry for the inconvenience.
You can try this in the time being go onto the settings on your cell, and disable the cellular data.
I’m not using the app but did try it and it did work with no issues from what I could tell.
I emailed the online retailer to get an RMA to send it back. And I thought I was having issues with my X Sight II!
Other things to note.
1. Can’t change the color of the home screen.
2. Can’t plug the scope into my computer to access files like I can with my X Sight II.
3. Date/time not displayed on the home screen or on the recorded video, only the ATN logo shows.
4. The lowest shooting distance is still 27 yards! I had hoped this issues would have been fixed, but no.
I know I'm forgetting something, but you get the idea that this scope has problems.
One thing I can say, the video recording is noticeably better quality than the X Sight II. I popped a couple tree rats and at 60 fps, the pellet can be seen during viewing. The bit rate of the 4k is higher than the II and they changed the file format from .mov to .mp4, see attached photos at bottom of the page.
One item to be aware of, where the SD card slips into the side of the scope, the plastic faceplate has a gap between the faceplate opening and the small card loading tray. This gap is big enough and will allow the SD card to be pushed passed the loading tray and in behind the faceplate.
Cheers, PB
