My compass loves West. It shows west all day long... I do realize the book sys to calibrate it when it says CAL.
The question is, how do I get from just "W" to "CAL?"

First I would shut it down remove the batteries and take a few deep breathes . Put the batteries back in, restart it and rotate it in the three different axis.
If that doesn't do it try a factory reset, but remember to import everything to your SD card first and also write down all your data (x/y, etc).
I had compass problems on one of my AR15's that I could not cure and finally discovered that the bolt carrier group had acquired a considerable magnetic charge that was interfering with the sensitive compass in the scope. I could drag that bolt through a box of paper clips and it would drag them all out.
I demagnetized it and the compass works perfect.

How did you de-maginatize it? Mine is stuck on North. No matter what.
