Hi all, just joined. Found this sight because I'm having an issue with a literally brand new old stock 5-18x X-Site.
I bought this unit a while ago and when I first got it I updated the firmware, played with the controls a little to get familiar with it and then put it on a shelf. It's never been on a rifle that was fired. And there is not a scratch on it. If it were behind a counter at a store you could never tell it was not brand new. I stored it without batteries and the inside of the battery compartment is pristine.
This past week I had the chance to use it so I mounted it on a .223 bolt action, put brand new batteries in it (correctly) and pushed the power button. The screen came on for about a second and then went blank. That's the last time I could get the screen to come on. I pulled the battery cap and verified that the batteries were in correctly. I tightened back down the cap completely. Can't tighten it anymore without worry of breaking it. The unit will not fire up. Checked the brand new batteries. All are good have the proper voltage. Tried a separate fully charged power pack. Nothing.
As I said before , This unit is absolutely like brand new and it will not power up. There's got to be a bad board in it or something.
Very dissappointing to say the least. Any ideas as to the cause or a solution?
This is the first time I've ever had to use a firearm products customer service, or warranty which I'm assuming ATN will say is expired. I have no idea what there warranty is but I'm afraid it's probably a bogus one due to this being electronic equipment.
Any help is appreciated.
I noticed right after after I bought my unit ATN came out with a revision to it which got rid of the almost impossible to use focus ring in favor of a knob. This is what I get for trusting a companies first version of product. Too many bugs and I paid to be a Guinea pig.

Just a minute ago I got a RED screen to come up for a second then a half red, faded ATN logo and then blank again... I just put some brand new batteries in again and pushed on the power button over and over a half dozen times trying to work it around a little since I read about button issues (not responding properly) in another thread.
This thing certainly appears to be dead.
I bought it on a whim, didn't think I'd have to worry with a company like ATN that I bought junk, and since I have so much other gear, just didn't get the opportunity to use it.
Had no idea it would break from NON USE, sitting in a bag on a shelf in my office. Very disappointing ... I certainly hope ATN is an honorable company. If I send this thing in it will be obvious it looks like it just came off the shelf.

Just talked with Jeremy at ATN and thankfully... the scope was bought in 2016 and IS still under warranty!
So I've sent all the info to him and will most likely be sending the scope next because it's DOA. And Hopefully... ATN does the right thing!
I'm hopeful at this point that I didn't make a mistake buying an ATN product...
We'll see.
