my photos are very dim. Not anything like what I see in the scope. What am I doing wrong?

You aren't doing anything wrong! It's just something within the scope and the data sent to the memory card is a little off. Something they can definitely work on at ATN. I would think that if utilizing the OTS version which is specifically for surveillance. I wonder if the OTS Owners have the same lack of brightness seen vs. recorded image at we do??

Indeed, Photos from Thor HD 640 (2.5X) is much darker than seen in the scope. Hope it will be corrected in next version firmware. Original and "photoshopped" images.

You can use another image gamma (Rainbow or Rain) - in this mode photos looks great. if grayscale needed - use Ptotoshop to convert from RGB =)
