Greetings to all!
Thread is:
CLUELESS AT ATN FACTORY! !
On April 1st I spent $2K and purchased the least expensive Thermal scope ATN OFFERED.
I attempted to mount it on a REMINGTON Model 700, in .243 caliber, that has a synthetic stock, to use for varmint control. We are over-run with Coyotes, here in East Texas.
I contacted ATN:
NO #1 problem: with the thermal scope placed atop a tall PICATINNY RAIL, I could not operate the bolt, as it hit the battery cover. Additionally, it was not possible to get a proper cheek weld for shooting. I proceded to Jack up the thermal scope with risers, in order to obtain adequate bolt operating clearances, which only further acerbated the the cheek weld problem! ! To get scope high enough to operate the bolt, this really jacked up the height difference on the buttstock, as relates to TRYING TO OBTAIN, A PROPER CHEEK WELD!
I contacted ATN for a solution to utilizing their product, on one of the most common hunting rifles out there. Tech support was absolutely CLUELESS, as to any kind of help , in using their product, on a rifle that has been out there for 55 years, and more than 5 million rifles sold to date! ! The Yahoo I talked to at ATN told me to contact Remington to find put why "THEIR" ATN PRODUCT WOULDN'T WORK ON THE REMINGTON RIFLE!
I was absolutely flabbergasted! I felt like the next thing that was going to come out of the Tech support guys mouth, was gonna be: "WHY DON'T YOU JUST BUY A NEW RIFLE TO PUT OUR SCOPE ON? "
ATN had no data that said "Don't try to make our product work on a Rem model 700"
Or, ..... even, " AT ATN, we just make a product, and we don't have a clue as to any....or what common rifles, that our designed products, would/ will fit"
Which is exactly, PRECISELY, the impression the ATN COMPANY REP, left me with!
ATN has generated many not so good impressions, as I will also further relate.
I called in to ATN CUSTOMER SERVICE, about 2 weeks after trying to obtain a simple solution to the marriage of a very common rifle, to an.ATN thermal scope, and of a SOLUTION, for the cheek weld, to a buttstock. After talking to ATN, the Tech promised me that the "MOST KNOWLEDGE-ABLE TECHIE" would contact me soon, and Hey! That was only TEN PLUS weeks ago! I guess I should be more patient! [SNARK-ASM INTENDED]
I called again today, no solutions offered again. I asked to speak to the owner, president, or higher ups........ AND OF COURSE THEY ARE UNAVAILABLE! And totally un-approach-able!
ATN should have had this solved already. So far this product has many problems in designs! It appears to be more "GEEK DRIVEN", than HUNTER FRIENDLY, OR PRACTICAL! Don't even get get me started on the "factory installed from the get-go!" Product software degredation that comes with the product, that forces you to install FIRMWARE, after buying the product. I don't want a product that Will send all my data to the nearest internet source! Simply due to the fact that it is MY DATA! NOT THE WORLD'S!
WHY DOES A COMPANY FORCE ALL THIS CRAP, AND OTHER HASSLES ONTO THEIR CUSTOMER BASE? ?
Does anyone at this Forum know of any simple, and cost effective solutions, to marry a Thor ATN 19MM THERMAL SCOPE TO A REM 700 RIFLE? THANXX!

Greetingz again,
I just found this on another thread:
This statement is on their web site: "Here at ATN we will not accept anything but 100% customer satisfaction. This is our commitment to you. We have a dedicated team of trained professionals that will help you determine the problem and help guide you with any issue you might have with our products. In the unlikely event that one of our units will need to be serviced, our Warranty Repair Center in South San Francisco, CA will do the work in 72 hours or less in most of the cases."
I am still waiting for an ATN representative to contact me.
SO I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!

I can't see how you can blame ATN for the scope not fitting your rifle. You should have checked that at your LGS.
Do you really expect ATN to test fit scopes on every rifle that has been made, is made or will be made? I would rather see them spend the time and money on producing a quick release for the scope. Not an add-on. Just change the nuts to adjustable levers. And fine tune the firmware. I'd also like to see the warning/error messages from the scope's OS and firmware displayed on the screen. It might help solve some of the "lock-ups" and problems folks have. Believe me, there's a ton of them available but not displayed.

Customer service is there for ATN problems. What you describe is not a problem their scope. Unrealistic expectation.

Stryker just a comment on the need to upgrade your firmware out of the box. Having been a geek for the past 35 years trust me you want the ability to upgrade the firmware. The factory install has the latest firmware as of the packaging of the product and there is no telling how long it sat at a distributor or retailer so an immediate upgrade is required to fix bug found since yours was built. It's also the way manufacturers add feature and is part of our world in many aspects of life i.e. cell phones, computers, routers, even cars.

Well folks,
I had in mind to use one of the most common hunting rifles out there!
If the ATN THERMAL SCOPE
DOES NOT FIT a REMINGTON Model 700 bolt action rifle .....
What bolt axxion rifles will it fit? Model 700 is a standard action, as common as any others out there! [ I.E. savage mod 10, or 11, or a Winchester model 70, or say a Ruger Mk1 mod 77. These rifle bolts all have similar functions, and heights, as to bolt lift etc. I expect the same thing will apply to being able to operate these other VERY COMMON BOLT ACTION RIFLES! !
I saw nothing anywhere to tell me that the ATN THERMAL SCOPE WOULD NOT FIT COMMON BOLT ACTIONS!
I also saw nothing that said: "We designed our THERMAL SCOPES to fit models xoxox type rifles ].
So........if ATN did not design the scopes, for common rifles? What the heck should they fit? ? The tech dint say what they should fit!
I've lied to twice by ATN:
They don't know what their product should, or will not fit.
They don't do as they say they will! And they make horrific, and bogus claims RE customer support, and service!
The control buttons did not allow me to select functions, even with 20 or more button presses, until I downloaded the FIRMWARE! [Not able to operate the UNIT readily, due to built in bugs, WITHOUT the FIRMWARE update! ]
If the scope needs the FIRMWARE to work properly? Why the Heck wasn't it on there from the get-go? Why would a company such as them, willingly hand over a product with bugs, etc., in the operating system? WHY GIVE THE CUSTOMER A HEADACHE FROM THE START?m ?
PLUS! ATN has not done anything help RE the problems!
THERE'S THIS THING CALLED PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, AND "BETA TESTING" ! This must have escaped the Engineers at ATN!
What did they design this $2K riflescope to fit? Why should I have to bang my head against the wall, to get ATN TO HELP?
These folks do not seem to relate to hunters, nor know what their THERMAL SCOPES will fit! And they are NO HELP AT ALL!
WHAT IS THIS SCOPE SUPPOSED TO SIT ATOP? For a hunter to use to eliminate varmints?
I don't think I'm expecting too much at all! Most scope manufacturers, HAVE MOUNTED THEIR SCOPES ON THE LIST OF VERY COMMON RIFLES MENTIONED ABOVE! ! And would be able to state what would, or would not work, as to ATN SCOPES , plus Rifle X, or RIFLE Y, Z... Etc!
But hey! They have got another useless scope out there in the market!
They do not give a damm, nor can they be bothered to help, or even do as they say!
What looked good in print is nothing more than can of worms!
Other than prices, and a total lack of customers care? Why would anyone want to bother with ATN? ? ?
UNREALISTIC EXPEXCTATIONS?
I DON'T THINK SO!

In posting the original thread, I hoped that someone else out had already run into the problem of fitting an ATN THERMAL SCOPE TO A really common rifle.....
I hoped that someone knew what PICATINNY RAIL mounts would work best, and maybe also offer up the cheek riser solutions.....
And maybe also, that three months later , a thread on the web might give ATN, a bit of a impetus towards customer care, and resolution.
That's the story anyways!

All valid points and you most likely won't get an argument here but this site is not ATN. If it were me and wanted the combination, I'd make an offset rail for the scope. All the pre-made offset rails seem to be 30, 45 or 90 degrees so a custom 0* offset at whatever clearance you need should work. Piece of cake if you own a mill and tooling. Or make friends with someone that does.

Hello TexasKen.
Offset scope mount is an interesting idea!
Bad thing about that premise, is that it also generates its own peculiar problems.
Offset mount means: there will be distance errors with that.
Setting the scope on the side also generates the cheek weld troubles.....
Excellent idea though for possible close-up shots! Thanks!
The very best solution MAY BE, BUT ALSO a PAIN IN THE ***!
SOLUTION MIGHT BE; For me to grind down the bolt handle, and thread the handle, and then custom make a thin, and possibly offset threaded bolt handle.......
As regards this not being an ATN FORUM: if they cared, they'd listen, and resolve, and help purchasers of ATN PRODUCTS.
THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS! JUST SALES!
I was told they were LIARS BEFORE I even purchased a thermal scope.
My hometown Sheriffs OFFICE, purchased their THERMAL SCOPE , it was JACKED UP FROM THE GET-GO! ATN took many months to even barely remedy...... their **** POOR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. Despite countless calls, and being told often it was FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES USES!
ATN CANNOT BE BOTHERED TO DO RIGHT! Like so many OTHER posts on this NON ATN FORUM! RE customers troubles!
ATN SIMPLY DOESN'T CARE!
You'd think they'd want to put a premium product in the hands of LAW ENFORCEMENT! Their guarantees are simply BS, their word is worthless!
I simply cannot fathom ATN giving the customers a KNOWN BUGGY PRODUCT! Why not deliver a finished bug free product?
NOR, DO I UNDERSTAND WHY:?
THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY CLUELESS AS TO WHAT IS NEEDED TO APPLY THEIR PRODUCT TO THE MOST COMMON RIFLES OUT THERE!
SALES DRIVEN, but not useful common applications, or are any solutions offered! NOT HUNTER FRIENDLY, GEEK DESIGNED!
THEY need new engineers, and input from shooters!
So far I've wasted time, and 2K plus on a THERMAL SCOPE, and still more on picatinny RAIL, and risers, NO CHEEK RISER SOLUTION. LOTSA FRUSTRATION!
It'd be cool to find solutions to this set of problems!
Best thing I think, is to return this product, save up more buxx, buy a better, and different brand of THERMAL SCOPE!
I was truly EXCITED at first!
Just plain disappointed now is the main thing.
I will continue to tell the world about all the joys of owning an ATN PRODUCT!
UGH?.......WHAT JOY? ?
I may wish to turn in my experiences to the many any various gun rags out there!
Thanks folks, for any inputs!
God bless! And may the force be with all!

The most common solution out there is a one piece Pic rail for the brand rifle you own. The next solution is a XMount made by Contessa in Italy which is a fine piece of equipment. 99% of bolt action rifles sold here in the US come with 2 piece mounts and the QD mount you have on your Thor (as long as it isnt the base model) will not attach correctly, hence the reason for a pic rail. Also the mounts on these bolt action rifles are weaver so there will be a fitment issue right from the start. It would be nice if you had a name or better yet a copy of the email with your concerns to ATN, if you do then Message me the info and I will have it looked at by the right people. I myself deal with local, county ,state and Federal l.e. with equipment here and to date we haven't had any issues. I demo the Thor and Binox thd to all of them. If there was a le branch that had an issue I can guarantee that they would have been sorted asap.

Well folks...... Hello again!
I'm now into month Five [ 5 Months! ], Or the fifth month of owning an ATN THERMAL SCOPE with NO HELP WHATSOEVER! FROM ATN, RE THEIR PROBLEM SCOPE!
Despite their alleged promises of services, and supposed instant customer cares and resolution! ! When a company makes these products, and customer care promises.........[LIES!] This is what I can only believe, as I am still seeing!
I've contacted ATN , directly, I've waited and waited, for a timely, prompt response, towards customer care, customer resolution, customer service, and just basic help! As they indicate, they will provide..........
I would love to KNOW what their stinking thermal scope is designed to work on??
What bolt axxion rifles will it fit, and work on? Can anyone from ATN TELL ME?? PRETTY PLEZ? ?
PERHAPS ATN,or ATN folks think a year or two would be a reasonable amount of time to wait for customer services??
This alleged customer care statement has really got me BumFuzzled! ! I'm supposed to believe it, yet I've experienced it to HAVE ABSOLUTELY ZERO VALUE!
Somebody popped off to me, that I have "UNREALISTIC expectations"....., and also that I should have discussed it at the local gun store, before purchasing, [which I did]. I also researched the thermal scope on the Net, and discussed THERMAL SCOPES with the company WHERE I purchased the scope from. This company sells who knows how many scopes of all types a day. It's called "Optics Planet"! A person would think, that they would KNOW IF..... a THERMAL SCOPE should not be applied to a bolt action rifle, or not.
WHAT IS THE THOR ATN 19MM THERMAL SCOPE SUPPOSED TO SIT ATOP?
Without spending tons more money, and standing on my head, while gyrating, and solving Boolian Logic..... What the Heck rifle/pistol/flintlock/ matchlock/cannon/crossbow/or AirSoft gun, is this this thermal scope supposed to werk on? ? I'm betting it's for rich kids AirSoft guns!
This forum is mostly full of ATN PRODUCTS THAT ARE NOTHING BUT A PAIN IN THE ***! A quick glance on this forum shows that there's tons of problematic ATN PRODUCTS listed in the various discussions. WHY SO MANY PROBLEMS?
All I really wanted was a good affordable, thermal scope mounted for frequent usage, on a really common rifle, and I wanted and expected help from the manufacturer, and from the techs at ATN, "AS THEY PROMISED!"
OH YEAH! "UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS!" If ATN sez they'll help, or if their mission statements, and customer care is nothing but BS!
I guess I shouldn't believe their promises, and I should just eat my time, and suck up a $2K LOSS! Or throw it in a trash can, or simply waste more time in hiring a lawyer to sue them! So many unhappy ATN CUSTOMERS HERE! CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT PERHAPS? I can almost see the lawyers commercials on T.V. now!
Are you an ATN SCOPE OWNER?
Call the Law Offices of: Bin-Screwed, Blindsided, Lied-to, P-Ode, Taken, Messed-Dup, Screwed-Agin, and U.Shoont-Bother! We'll be happy to help you in a class axxion lawsuit. Plez call 900 YOU LOSE.
I simply wanted an affordable decent, usable, workable, THERMAL SCOPE for varmint control! I wanted and expected a reasonable bit of help, from ATN......RE their stinking worthless, unusable product! Almost any other product out there it seems now, would have been a BETTER PIRCHASE!
I thank you all who've read, and listened, and I pray that everyone else finds themselves, with fewer ATN PROBLEMS! [AND PRODUCTS? GRIN!] I hope you folks can actually get a good product, and some resolution, from this Horrible scope company!
Yuh know? It really seems like they could have resolved these supposedly simple issues, and even returned fone calls AS PROMISED!
I am now ranking ATN in the same category as a fone company! They're full of promises, and lies! They get away with murdering your wallet, along WITH ZERO ACOUNTABILITY, AND NO ACTUAL RESPONSIBILITY!
S.S.D.D.! STANDARD BIZNESS PRACTICES! We can always get a new customer! "You mean you actually thought our mission statements were true?" [Yepperz!! Ole P.T. Barnum said it! :there's one born every minute!" ]
Whadda-yuh mean? Customers drive our business? You sir, are but just another CUSTOMER that's unhappy with our WORTHLESS TO YOU PRODUCT! And by the way....... Our total lack of customer care and service does NOT MEAN A DAMM THING TO US! YOU SIR.... Are simply an expendable number to us! You bought and paid for our totally unusable product! That means...."We've got your money!" And before you ask us....... we simply do not care if you ever buy another product from us again! And we really mean it! ! HOW DARE YOU ASK US FOR HELP WITH OUR PRODUCT! Didn't you understand? DO YOU FAIL? To Understand that you've been given " THE BRUSH-OFF!?" Why on Earth would you even ask us what rifles that our product will work on? WE DON'T KNOW! AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TELL YOU! Didn't we tell you to go ask REMINGTON to find out why our ATN THERMAL SCOPE WON'T FIT! A scope that won't fit on one of the more than 5 million, very common model 700 rifles? Don't bother us! We made a THERMAL SCOPE, we don't know that it will work on any COMMON RIFLES! [SNEER!]
And as to you....Joe Customer! "Why can't you just be happy with owning one of our useless products!??" Just put it on a shelf, WHERE you you can see it often, and be able to frequently admire it, and also remember, all the more than Two thousand buxx you wasted, on an ATN PRODUCT! Forget about all the bugs, in The product you received! In time... You'll get more PISSED off, and can then go buy another also worthless product from us!
Now,why would I feel that ATN has treated me unfairly, or failed to properly resolve issues, or even offer basic customer care? POOR,POOR ATN! What kind of customer thinks we should honor our customer statement???
Stryker says:
Folks, I guess. At this point I should apologize to ATN for having any faith in them, or their products! After going into the fifth month of owning a Thor ATN THERMAL SCOPE, I am being naively UNREALISTIC, in hoping for customer resolution! MY BAD! OOPS!
How dare I put forth the facts here, or my opinions RE owning an unusable product, a product that i waited years to finally be able to purchase? Something that cannot be mounted, or utilized, in an appropriate manner?
It'd be really nice... if this venting about ATN would be of value to helping anyone.. at all!
I genuinely hope you good folks can get some good uses, and value from your ATN PRODUCTS!
God bless! And thanks to any that offered help!
May the force be with you!

Hi Stryker This is my Sako 222 bolt action rifle. Took me a while to get everything together, but now it works great. Got everything from Ebay. Want to move it back just a little further. The problem with the high mounted scope is that the rifle must be level when shooting. So I just check the on screen display and let it rip. I have a flickering screen issue, but I can live with that for now. Attachments:

Stryker,
Perhaps this is just God's way of telling you that it is time to acquire an AR15. I am not trying to be a wise-***, I really do understand your frustration. Regardless of how you mate that scope to your rifle I don't think you'll ever be happy because of the extreme height issue that your dealing with.
There has never been a better time to buy an AR15. The prices are cheaper than ever and the selection is endless. If you are really going to be as effective as possible as a coyote/varmint slayer a semi-auto will enhance your capabilities and your THOR will sit proudly and perfectly on an A3 upper.
I have two X-sight II and one THOR like yours that can be mated to a variety of different calibers. I'm shooting all these different calibers on AR15 combinations with the three scopes:
.22LR .17 Mach2 suppressed .223 .223 suppressed 300AAC Blackout 300AAC Blackout suppressed 7.62x39 7.62x39 suppressed
By the way what neck of the woods are you in there in ETX?

Wheels,
reference your screen flickering, if your running low light sensitivity try increasing to medium or high and see if that helps.

The scope will fit, but it will be too far forward. You will get a pain in the neck trying to see the viewfinder. All bolt action rifles have the same problem, at least the ones I know of. You will need a riser to lift the scope and move it back.
