Has anyone heard any updates on when or IF ATN will unlock the HZ to the listed 60HZ?

I don't think the Ambarella ARM SoC can handle it as implemented. It would take an upgrade of the Ambarella model used currently. It's fast but not that fast.

So then why do they bill something as being capable of something - accept money - and then turn around and suddenly it does not support its advertised capabilities? More of a gripe than a question...

The same has occurred with the X-Sight II. Its been out for about two years now, I think. Only recently has some the features been implemented or fixed. I would hope as ATN refines the firmware that more options are added and more processor overhead pruned. I think they may have done some optimizing in the last X-Sight II firmware as the scope seems more responsive. I would recommend keeping your THOR up to date with the latest firmware. ATN seems to be playing catch up. Don't give up just yet.
As a side note; The X-Sight II uses the same processor as the GO-PRO camera. At least until the new models hit production. GO-PRO has dropped the Ambarella ARM processor for some reason. It could be due to the same lack of support ATN is receiving but this is just speculation on my part. Or, it could simply be a bottom-line decision.
