I have used my unit with both the Kentli AA's and a 20000 mah external battery connected. One difference I noted was that with both power sources in use you do not have to "wake-up" the external battery before powering up the device.

I have used my unit with both the Kentli AA's and a 20000 mah external battery connected. One difference I noted was that with both power sources in use you do not have to "wake-up" the external battery before powering up the device. On mine, you do. If I just power up with both the scope hangs at the ATN logo. I have to remove the external power cord and unscrew the battery cap on the scope to shut it down. The only way mine will power up with both is to "wake-up" the battery pack and immediately power up the scope. The battery pack will go back to sleep after about 2-3 seconds if there's no draw. If I power up with only the internal batteries then plug in the external battery pack, the external power indicator shows on the screen and the battery pack lights up without being tickled.
It may be differences in power packs. I use a 10K mAh battery from PowerAdd. It fits in a butt stock magazine pouch and only weighs 9.2 ounces. I keep my spare in a MOE iPhone pouch. The 10K has lasted a couple of hours at the range without dropping a charge indicator. I suspect it will last longer than I want to be in the field but I got the spare battery before I knew that.

My X sight does not appear to draw power from the external battery power supply and when connected there is no “wake-up” indication. After using the scope the external battery tests show a full charge while two of the internal batteries show considerable drains. In addition of the four onboard batteries only the two lower batteries show drain (negative - facing). So far the lower batteries have been replaced numerous times while the top batteries (+) are testing as new. ?? I would appreciate any input.

I have to turn both on. Pack does not wake up. That’s fine I know now. I run the pack at all times. It’s lasted weeks on a single charge. Still has 3/4 bars.
Turn on the pack then turn on the scope. If you shut your scope off the pack will go to sleep soon after.

Guys I know this is an old thread but ..... X sight 2, 5 - 20 pain in the butt ! it works ok with AA batteries but wont power up with the external power pack, battery lights up when its connected without me doing anything so im guessing the "smart" battery is doing its thing but the sight wont play ball! I have tried to start it up with AAs in at the same time but no joy. If I use AAs to start the unit then connect the battery pack it immediately shuts down the unit, i then have to remove the external lead and the AAs before it will restart with AAs. Any ideas other that throw it in a crusher? my IR illuminator also never turns off properly which is why it burns through batteries when im out and about, this is apparently normal!?? surely off is off? all in all pretty crap ! and I have pretty much had it with ATN !

Try to remove the AA batteries totally. I run my unit - same as yours on only an external 20K mAh battery pack. What illuminator are you running? Mine has the 2 buttons on top for off/On and brightness adjustment - have converted mine to run on external usb as well. Also do not store scope or IR hooked up to power
Let us know if this works for you.

Hey I am new to this forum and posted a question else where.
I recently purchased the ATN x2 unit. I also purchased a Blackweb BWA18WI076 external power supply. Does the scope require the ATN supplied power supply? The issue I have is the unit display shuts down shortly after powering up, although the WIFI is still active, and my remove display (an Iphone) continues to display the output of the scope.
Do I need the ATN battery pack, or am is it the connector cable that is causing the issue?

OK
So after I posted my question above, I reread what ODIN had suggested and I removed the onboard battery. I then plugged in the Blackweb external power supply and Voila the unit powered up.
Apparently the onboard batteries have precedence as far as power source selection from the processor.
Thanks Odin.
