Will UV markers, patches etc show up in the X-site or Binos? Will a UV marker or patch reflect the IR light?
This goes straight to my ignorance (and lack of time/energy to research light waves and properties...) but I am hoping somebody has tried this or can provide an intelligent answer.
Background. I would like to mark myself and other hunters in my party with something that will reflect when the night vision equipment is being used. IR patches aren't all that expensive but an UV marker (sharpie) is only 4$. Hard to beat something I can mark a bunch of equipment/people with for 4$.
Thoughts?

UV is ultraviolet. IR is infrared. UV is the high end of the spectrum above visible light. Infrared is the low end of the spectrum below visible light. A UV pen contains a dye that flouresces when illuminated with UV light. IR patches reflect IR light. So unless you just get lucky UV will not show up under IR.

I found a manufacturer that sells an IR Inkpen. The pen is described as working in the IR band at 830nm. I think its original concept was to mark items and then take pictures with an IR camera. I contracted the manufacture and after much hostility, I was told they wouldn't work. I got the impression he didn't want to do business with me as I mentioned the dirty words... rifle, scope, and hunting. www.maxmax.com and specifically www.maxmax.com/shopper/product/15795-icgpensm-ir-invisible-ink-writing-pen-type-1-830nm-peakThoughts?

Yeah, he has a store there. You want one just buy it. Don't talk with fools. He is either an idiot or just plain an asshat. Clearly he believes they work or he would not be advertising them on his web site. They seem to know what they are doing so... Yeah, just buy one and ignore him.
