Mounted new-NIB Thor 336 (60hz) 9x on AR platform with 1/2" riser rail. Attempted to zero. Set xy to 0/0 at 15 yards. Did not impact 36 x 36 target. Adjusted x to -4, POI 11" below POA. Adjusted to -99 (max) POI 6" below POA at 15yards! I had previously mounted and used a Thor 336 4.5x without the riser rail on same weapon platform and only had to adjust x axis to -4 in 3 shots to be dead on at 100yrds. I added the rail in order to clear the video output plug and add room to reach charging handle. What am I doing wrong or is the unit out of alignment? Tried to add photo of target, but file size to large for this forum. Had sent email to ATN but no reply as of yet. Serpent 408

Is the riser by chance a 10,20 or 30 moa rail? I bought one awhile back and after getting the same results you did found that it was mismarked in the package.

It is a possibility that it was incorrectly marked on packaging. The question was brought up if it had added moa and as to the riser being installed incorrectly (backwards.) It does not appear to be a mislabeled rail, nor was it installed incorrectly. I have removed the riser from the flat-top receiver and will go back to the range. I will update you on my findings. Back from another Night Shoot at the range. Riser rail was removed as noted above. Attempted to re-zero @ 25 yrds. X axis set at -100, Y axis=0. Air temp 18F. Used a "hot hands"tm warmer as thermal center on target. POI 8" low at 6 0'clock. Assuming 10moa for each cross hash, I did a 20moa hold over. This gave me a POI 6" low in a straight vertical line. I removed this unit and replaced it with an ATN 360x256. Having used the 360 on a previous hunt, I adjusted the X axis to -4 and kept the Y axis at 0 (base setting is 0/0.) With one shot at 100yrds on same type of thermal target the rifle is dead on! So in my assumption, the 336 Thor is out of calibration. Sending request for a RO# for service. Serpent 408

just curious but you have said nothing about setting the sight height values in the unit have you measured center of bore to center of scope and entered that value into the unit ?
The default value is 1.5" but since ATN uses the same mount and center assembly which measures 2" the best you could hope to set site height to is 2.25inch most rigs are over that value and since you are shooting low at close range your sight height is wrong based on your results.

This is not an HD optic model (336x256), so sight height values are not part of the equation here. I used the same zeroing procedure for both thermal units with significantly different results following the manual directions. The ATN thermal expert users (Night Shoot Instructors) at the range were also unable to zero the unit. Discount operator error. It also has a different mount than the one on my 360x256, which has the A.R.M.S. MKII mount. This one has no manufacturer's ID. Serpent 408
