I have tried repeatedly to update the firmware per the instructions. I have checked ad rechecked I am using the proper update. I have deleted all of the old firmware from the sd card but the unit still will not start the update process. I am trying to install x_sight_1_8_08_352.bin into an X-sight 5-18. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

I am having the same issue.
Really frustrating.
Have tried multiple cards and different computers.
Still no update, anyone with help on this?

Try and rename it to x_sight_1_8_08_353.bin (the 352 changed to 353) - it is a way to trick the scope into loading firmware.
But first check out the software version already loaded into the scope, it may well be tht you already have this version loaded.
