Hi
I've just joined the group in the hope of solving this problem. I have an X-Sight II HD, so I'm familiar with the X-Sight workings. The update process is different on the 4K and this is where I'm having a problem.
My scope was not setting pressure, altitude & temperature automatically and the compass showed ERR. Also, I could not get the ABL to work with the scope even though it paired. The X-Trac works OK.
I ran through the Firmware update as shown in the video on more than one occasion and even re-booted my PC just in case. I have installed a new 32Gb SD card and formatted on the sight. I reset to factory. I did the 15 sec reboot. I have done each process multiple times and I'm back to zero.
Now, at the first stage of the update process, the firmware appears to be loading but stops at the end with 'Failed' in red. If I try to continue with the second part from the web, it hangs.
I tried to install an earlier version - no luck. Same problem.
I can switch on the scope but the original problems still exist.
I'm REALLY hoping there's an expert here who can guide me as I understand ATN support is as rare as rocking horse sh1t!
I'm also hoping I have ignorantly missed something important...
Cheers David

***UPDATE***
I thought I'd let it charge overnight and give it another go this morning.
Now it's stopping halfway through the update process and freezing with the message 'Downloading'.
I think it hates me.
Cheers David

I'm now beginning to think that if the latest (483) firmware is installed, it won't let it be re-installed or even an earlier version? The ABL issue was operator error.... I still don't get automatic temp/humidity/altitude readings. Cheers David

I Really think ATN is NOT honest in information about working of the X-sight pro and other products why can't we get a proper answer on software updates what is ATN hiding or trying to estalish ??

Hi all, hmm, well as I read all these issues it appears to me that ATN is MAYBE having issues with their magnetometer circuits in all recent devices?
I have purchased 12 scopes, ABL 1000/1500s, Binox. Never had any issues. BTW, they are good about fixing and or replacing problematic products.
My recent purchase of 2 X-Sight 4k Pro, 5-20x and 1 Binox was the very first time I have ever had issues with any of their products in all the years I have been buying from them. All three items are having same issues.
The list of problems seem to be symptomatic of what everyone else is experiencing.
1. Compass issues: a. Stuck on North all the time, b. Stuck on SMF error all the time, regardless if outside away from all metal. c. Stuck on ERR, same issues, no rebooting, reinitialize, nothing fixes it. 2. Software Update using ATN E Firmware Update Application. Current Firmware rev is 3.2.11.483 a. Unable to update no matter what you try. Scope establishes link, starts to update then fails at the end. b. App and or Scope freezes during update attempts. c. Update works, compass problems still present. 3. Scope freezes when Micro SD Card is inserted/installed. a. When inserting brand new sd cards, or testing using an sd card from another working scope. Entire Scope freezes and locks up. Usually this is also associated with Compass issues. 4. Scope not recognized on computer when using supplied micro usb cable. 5. Scope locks up or freezes when plugging in micro usb cable.
Like I stated. I have always had great luck with ATN Products. Im assuming whatever is happening is due to the current shipping shortages, back-orders, supply chain shortages due to this whole Pan-Damn-Demic? Maybe a bad run of internal circuit boards? Sensors? Etc?
The UI for their rifle scopes and binoculars are good. Basic, fool proof, and scopes just work.
When updating firmware, things to remember. The ATN Firmware upgrade software works really simple and easy. If its not, then something is wrong. Needs to be a windows machine. Anything except Windows Server will work. Windows 10 is best. hitting the power and down arrow buttons on scope should connect immediately. If it doesn't there is something wrong.Bad cable, bad scope, drivers did not install correctly. Upgrade should just work, once scope is connected to PC hit upgrade. It will either work or fail. If it fails, there is something wrong with the scope. Reinitialize and reset scope then try again. If it still fails, then something is wrong with scope, not you. Most important after firmware upgrade. HOLD THE POWER BUTTON FOR 20 SECONDS.... Then turn on scope, check for latest update.

Hmmm. About the compass problems ...
Weapons consist of metal. Many metals can be magnetized simply by touching/stroking them with a magnet. This could break any compass near that magnet. I hope the scope itself does not have any magnetizable metal built in (that would be a killer feature!). So the only test would be to take a real compass, place it on top of the scope and check where it is pointing.
Just a thought.

Hello all, I did the several recent firmware updates without issue (451, 480 & 483). Did the factory resets with them also. I did have the compass issue, but after 12 turns on longitudinal axis (roll), them 12 turns on lateral axis (pitch), then 12 turns on vertical axis (yaw), all is fixed (once calibration finished). I too am looking for why my temperature, pressure and altitude all went to manual input since firmware 480. If you want them automatic again, you need firmware 451 or less. I called ATN help desk and made this suggestion... • Put a option under "ENVIRONMENT" to toggle between "Automatic" or "Manual" for these three setting... temperature, pressure and altitude • I think temperature could stay automatic, as the scope seems accurate enough with that, and doesn't effect ballistics too much if off by ±10°. Also, I suggested to ATN that the app. should now allow temperature, pressure and altitude to be edited if running firmware 480 or greater. Currently the app. doesn't allow, which means you can only edit through the scope, which is more painful. All Environment settings are now manual, the last three are no longer automatic since firmware 480... You can't edit the temperature, pressure or altitude in the app...

***UPDATE*** Sent the following email to Austin Burton, Account Manager...
Hello Austin, I came to understand that since version 480, that temperature, pressure and altitude went manual. I have a few suggestion... • If the scope went manual for these settings, so shouldn't the app? -- Right now you can't change them in the app. • Add option/toggle to have Altitude and Pressure settings be manual or automatic. → I think you can keep temperature automatic since it's accurate enough. • Add option for wind direction to include relative position (clocking), not just magnetic North. → Or put option/toggle for it, or base toggle on compass integrity. Some examples are... or...
