Once the 4k is out of warranty and the internal battery has died I was wondering if it is user replaceable? I assume it is an lipo pack (18650 etc. would be too big to fit the scope dimensions)?

That is great question for ATN support. With what appears to be a sealed housing, I wouldn't think that the battery would be easily user replaceable. Hopefully ATN has looked far enough ahead to establish an inexpensive battery replacement program for it's loyal customers.

Sadly ATN never bothered to respond to an email I sent them...obviously selling is more important than supporting!!!

obiwan, I have had the same results when asking questions about the new THOR LT thermal scope. I've tried calling but I've been told that no one was available to speak with me.

obiwan, I just got off of the phone with ATN support. The battery is covered by the 5 year warranty but it is not user replaceable. Right now the cost of a new battery installed by ATN is $ 100.00. He also answered my questions about the THOR LT.

Well, if/when my battery goes south, I will tear it apart and see, before I send it off, and spend $100 !!!!

I am in Australia so, since we are price gouged for just about everything downunder, it will cost as much as a new scope!!! I'm assuming there are no official agents in Australia (since ATN never bothered to reply to me) so warranty is out the door as well (and we never get as good a warranty as you cousins in the US!!!)
Not sure about that 5 year warranty, the manual only says 2 years. Local gunshop said there is an agent in Oz so I'll contact them and confirm. Cheers

Then battery replacement is free under warranty or do I pay $100 to get it replaced under warranty?

They told me that the battery replacement is covered under the five year warranty. Jim
PS- I just checked my 4K Pro manual and it states the warranty is 2 years, not five years as I was told over the phone.

It's $100 now, wonder what they will be in 4 more years when they're no longer under the 5 year warranty

Has anyone figured out if they can't replace the internal battery without sending it back to the company yet?

G'day,
I've just realised the battery in the 4K Pro is a lithium-ion type. Current advice from local fire services where I live in Australia is not to leave devices with these types of battery on prolonged and unsupervised charge. They can overheat and explode into flames - just like electric cars.
