Guys, check the current firmware installed on your scope. It may already have the latest version installed. Check in the system menu. If not let us know for additional recommendations.

Also check that you have the file on the SD card and not the download.

It turned out that it didnt like the sd card i was trying to use to install firmware, my mate used the one out of his 4k pro ( same specs on sd card ) it done the firmware update immediately and then was happy with the initial sd card i was using ( up in top right corner u will see the sd card symbol , if its not blue in colour its indicating that the sd card is inserted but its not retrieving information from it , hope this helps

64GB card? Seems most issues I see are related to the bigger cards. Have a 16GB in my scope and have yet to run out of space on a hunt. Is rare to see guys having issues with 16GB or 32GB cards, almost always 64GB. Just saying.

Also check that you have the file on the SD card and not the download. What do you mean by having the file versus the download on the card? I did the download from the site and copied it to the card. The card symbol in scope is blue. It is a 64 GB card

And then place the sd card in the slot in the scope ?

You need to open the downloaded file and the .bin file needs to be copied onto the SD cards root directory.

You need to open the downloaded file and the .bin file needs to be copied onto the SD cards root directory. I guess I am confused by this as when I click the download it will not let me open the file. You are saying that I need to figure out how to open the downloaded file and then save it and copy to sd card correct? I feel the lack of instructions included with scope to do this is fault.

Open the download file, copy and paste the .bin file to SD card and then you should be good to go. Just make sure your battery is charged on the scope before you start the update. Not good to run out 1/2 way through.

It will not work if you try to open the .bin file when updating for the 4K Pro. It seems it has sort of like a safety mechanism from tampering with the file.
If you are having trouble updating the firmware for the 4K Pro follow the below steps.
Format your SD card in the scope. You will find this option in the settings Photo/Video tab. Turn off the scope, take out the SD card and stick it into your computer. Download the ...330.bin firmware. Right-click it and choose Copy. Open the SD card folder and Paste the .bin file in the root directory (not in the ATN folder created by the scope). Remove SD card from PC, stick it in your turned off scope. Turn on the scope and you should see a dialog box to update the firmware.

Something else to consider, the manual says to use a SDHC micro SD card. From what I have seen available on Amazon, SD cards that are 32MB and smaller tend to be SDHC and anything larger, i.e. 64MB are SDXC. I initially had a 64MB SDXC card and was also having issues. I switched to a 32MB SDHC card and have not had any further problems.
I think odin was meaning was you needed to unzip the .bin file. I'm using a MacBook, so it may be different for you, but when I download the firmware it downloads the .bin file, so all I had to do was copy it to the root directory of the SD card and insert it into the scope. There is no need to open the file or unzip it. I hope this helps...

I agree with Paul, using a higher quality SDHC SD card helps. It also mentions to format the SD card first, some card come with per-installed formats.

My scope didn't like the SDXC card either, swithed to a SDHC card and worked perfectly.

I had the same problem as many here, the xc cards would not trigger firmware update. Got a 32G HC and voila, i did do a complete format on the HC which i had not done on the XC's. Did a complete format on 64 installed it powered up showed red SD then went blank panic ensued was able to power down by holding power button, reinstalled the blank 32 HC powered up and blue card icon. Have no idea what the hell is going on,but i might have 2, 64 G conversation pieces (they are sandisc)
