I have 4k Pro with the .271 firmware and every time I turn it on I get a "Target is Unreachable" message. I click OK and the scope seems to work but it is very annoying. You want the scope to come up running ASAP without having to fumble for the right button to press. Anyone have any thoughts why this is happening? Or is it normal? This was happening before the firmware update so not related to that.

The message could appear if your ballistic calculator is on and the distance entry is over 1500 yards. Go into the menu carousel - Distance Entry to change it.

Thanks, but I have the distance set to 60 yards (my sighting distance and the distance from my door to the chicken coop). I tried setting it higher and lower just to see if that had an impact but I still get the message regardless. I am using it on a .303 air rifle so the muzzle velocity entered into the computer might be slower than it expects (900 fps). I take it no one else has this same behavior? Turning off the BC avoids this and I guess that is what I will do since if I have time to get the range and use the computer, I probably have time to turn it on.

I would be checking the bullet info. Have you got all the settings correct for the .303 pellets - ie drag weight etc.

I am pretty sure. Unless gr stands for grams instead of grains ;-). I think I have it entered right because I was able to find the weight and ballistic coefficient from the manufacturer and I tuned the muzzle velocity until the computer was able to accurately predict the drop at 40, 60, & 100 yds (I don't have a chronograph). It works - I just hate having to press OK every time I turn it on - it's bad enough it takes so long to boot up and it will blind you if you look into the eyepiece before it is done (screen is on max until it finishes booting). Makes it less than ideal for my use which is something to grab quickly when I get woken up from a commotion in the hen house. Considering the problems others are having I guess I shouldn't complain but these seem like things that can be fixed in the firmware.

My 4K Pro does the same thing, Target Unreachable on boot. It's a software issue and like you I just press OK and go on. I'm hopeful that the next firmware update will correct this and allow my LaserBallistics 1000 to communicate with the 4K. I'm not spending another $299 for a rangefinder.

X2 me too. I just turn the BC off when I shut down ps 303 air rifle whatcha got? Daystate Pulsar HP. The ATN 4K Pro seemed like a nice fit because I needed a day/night scope and it can save different profiles for the different power modes the rifle offers (different muzzle velocities). I can switch the rifle to the low power mode for plinking and get a lot more shots before I have to fill the tank and then back to high power when I need it ready to deal with coyotes. With the 4K Pro, I can just switch the scope profile when I switch the rifle mode. Really, it almost works as I hoped. I just have to keep the BC turned off as you say and remember not to look into the eyepiece until it finishes booting. Now, if only ATN could speed up the boot time I will be satisfied.

I had the same issue. I had entered Rangefinder menu and messed up the target height. Just go back and enter the height of your target. For me it was a 12” target. Once I set this my meters came in to match my handheld rangefinder and the message went away. The Target Is unreachable message is just telling you that it cannot calculate the distance. Mine was showing over 1100 meters as the target height was set at 1.8m.
Hope this helps others.
Happy shooting!
