Wanted to stop back here and give everyone an update to my status with this X-sight 4k pro scope i have been dealing with over the weekend. Still had not heard from ATN through support emails from last week so , once the labor day weekend was over , i called them today to see if i could get some 1 on 1 help support over the phone.
ANYONE purchasing or receiving one of these scopes , make sure that the 3.1.01.218 firmware is the version that your scope came with , right out of the box. IF it IS the version you have , then leave it alone and DO NOT try to use the version 3.1.01.185 that is posted on the firmware update page. I was told that the version 218 IS the latest version but was taken off the update website to be worked on further for even more stability.
So if your scope already came with that 218 version just leave it alone because downgrading it to any version will just mess things up, like mine did. Although i would be speculating as to WHY they would not post the 218 for download AND post the 185 for people that might have an older version , both at the same time , well its not for me to say.
I however have myself a working copy of the 3.1.01.218 now , and have put it BACK onto my scope , which placed the scope back into operation , just as it was when i received it from shipping. The compass is still not exactly true but the roll and pitch scales are all working again , and I've not had the chance to try the compass calibration. All in all the compass problem is not a big deal at this point.
The scales however i DID want them working and was a big deal for me personally. After speaking with the rep on the phone , the word on the vine is that another more stable firmware version is coming but use the 218 and roll with that for now. Just wait for the fix and i for one will be holding onto any previous firmware's , just in case.
The rep said when i told him ,that i followed the book and the websites instructions to the LETTER , and no mention ANYWHERE in the box , book or site , to NOT downgrade if your scope has the 218 installed .
I can fully attest about what i have been through personally and tried myself , and either luck but i think more then likely its oriented that way , that the firmware install BACK to the 218 from the 185 , was going to work and so it did.
I have built many computer rigs and done my share of coding and it just didn't seem to me that the attempted downgrade , would make the scope inoperable permanently. The roll up worked fine and once i got my hands on that 218 bin file , i felt pretty sure it would work.

It was kind of misleading and not very forth coming with that extra mile of information . The book and site clearly say to USE the 185 and there isn't very much current of tested info out there to grab ont

Well now you all know as much as i do and how things transpired for me. Just wanted to stop back and give the update. Hopefully it sheds some light on everything and helps someone else to not have to go through all the steps i did . They really should do an in depth write up for their firmware update page . Lots of smart people out there and hey , ATN ,share the info. Give all us good ole boys some credit. We AINT dumb rednecks that drink beer and chew tobakky, shootin our guns all day , cause we to perty for that hahaha . Yall have a great week </;-)
A simple communication from ATN could have sorted the issue that this has become for a lot of people.
Hope this prevents a lot of grief for some of you
Cheers
