Im thinking of buying a used x-sight 2 to use on a sub 12ft PCP air riffle but i have heard that after a firmware update first launched early 2017 onward that there is a problem with the sight ranging below 25 yards/meters, i tend to hunt rabbits in the UK at ranges further than the 25 yards/meters but can anyone confirm if this is correct about anything below 25y/m not ranging within the scope. i have contacted ATN directly but they fail to reply to my emails, any advice would be helpful as if the sight is only useful over 25y/m then its not going to be any use for me

If you get their ballistic rangefinder, either the 1000 or 1500, this will let you range down to 10m with no problems.I use one all the time and constantly use it at night where ranges do vary considerably. Without it you can only come down to 25m.

Or you can try to locate the older firmware and never do an update. You can also run two SD cards, one with current firmware and one with the old version and then do a factory reset when you change the cards. It is a pain though. I wanted to run my X-Sight on an air rifle at times, but the 25 yard min range in the new update screwed that up! I can't fathom a reason why they would have changed the minimum setting. Enough people have griped about it that they could fix it if they cared enough, so clearly they don't care.

That is correct I recently purchased one for my Weihrauch kw1100 didn’t realise about the 27 yard issue . Tried to downgrade and now my scope is messsed up ie frozen nothing works and can’t reinstall any firmware at all . Don’t buy one if your a Airgunner there more trouble than there worth. I should of bought a hawke sindwinder with a night vision kit instead . Absolutely gutted now as I have a very expensive brick 🧱. Lol

Contact ATN. I put the abl on minebworks quite well at 5-130yds with my air gun.

Hi I notice this is a fairly old question, but I have only just come across this problem after buying a second hand x sight 2. Being an air gunner half my shots are less than 27 yards. Has this issue finally been solved with new firmware? I don’t fancy chancing permanently crashing it with older firmware, so is my only choice an ABL?

Hi I put my hands in my pockets and forked out for an ABL1000. Have problem now that when shooting at night the ABL now fouls the IR light, looking for the solution to that now

Hi, I solved the problem with a second Picatinny rail that is attached below, to which I have now attached the IR. Can you tell me which firmware version you have and whether you can switch it from day to night mode?

Sorry not been on here for a while, I finally got in touch with ATN who told me I could operate the ABL in any orientation, so I simply spun it round so the battery part of the ABL no longer obstructed the IR light
