For those interested, who like to tweak, and like to Alpha Test (aka experiment at own risk).
You can create Unique names for your individual X-sight profiles by editing an exported Profiles file on a computer.
You can also duplicate an existing profile, allowing you to switch back and forth between two profiles for say zero yardage changes (100-yards vs. 250-yards) or change in bullet type or velocity.
WARNING: This process worked for my X-sight. There is no guarantees it will work for someone else or if ATN makes changes to latest firmware.
WARNING: If you don't have computer experience editing files with basic text editor, then don't attempt this.
Step #1 - export existing x-sight profiles to microSD card
Step #2 - make sure to power x-sight off
Step #3 - remove microSD card and put it into computer attached microSD card reader
Step #4 - make a backup copy of oprofiles.xml file to folder on computer
- alternatively do another export to different microSD card - put this card aside in case of problems
Step #5 - open oprofiles.xml file using a basic text editor (Don't use a word processor like Word)
First line will look something likes this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
Last line will look something like this: <profiles_created>1</profiles_created>
With number between created> and </profiles being total number of profiles (1 to 8) that you have created on x-sight
Between First line and Last line will be lines that look something like this:
<profile_0><name>Profile A</name><drug_function>1</drug_function><bal_coef>0.213</bal_coef><bullet_weight>240.0000</bullet_weight><init_velocity>620.000</init_velocity><distance>98.00</distance><sight_height>55.000</sight_height><reticleOffset_x>-10</reticleOffset_x><reticleOffset_y>15</reticleOffset_y></profile_0>
Total number of profile lines will match number indicated by Last Line
If you want to change name of Profile A, edit text between <name> and </name>
Keep new name simple - short and no special characters
If you want to duplicate Profile A, you first need to duplicate entire line from <profile_0> through </profile_0>
This should be one continuous line with no newlines (aka carriage returns) between <profile_0> and </profile_0>
Newly added duplicate line should go after existing original line on a new (separate) line.
Next you need to change duplicated line as follows - <profile_0> to <profile_1> at beginning of line AND </profile_0> to </profile_1> at end of line
Each duplicated line must have a unique number following profile_
Next you need to change duplicate line's name as follows - Profile A between <name> and </name> to new name such as FED-JHP-S-240_c
Finally you need to change Last line to reflect increase in number of profiles. In this case from <profiles_created>1</profiles_created> to <profiles_created>2</profiles_created>
When duplicating lines - the limit I have seen is a Maximum of 8 profiles.
Step 6 - save changes of edited oprofiles.xml file
- for reference or for corrections save oprofiles.xml to another folder on computer (or different name)
Step 7 - remove microSD card from computer and put it back into X-sight
Step 8 - power up x-sight scope
Step 9 - Import profiles from microSD card
You should now see either new name of profile you changed (if that is what you did) or newly duplicated profile with name different than original line, you should be able to see changes made such as drag coefficient or bullet weight when looking at duplicated and edited profile line
If you get an error when Importing profile, there are three options.
Re-export profiles to microSD card (overwriting oprofiles.xml and lose all changes you made to file)
Or try editing file again, checking for any mistakes such as incorrect number of profiles or failing to change both beginning and ending profile_#
Or revert to backup copy made in Step #4
AGAIN: Do this at your own risk!
