How many are waiting to see if this passes into law successfully before suppressing your rifles? Gladly down here in NZ we can purchase over the counter on a standard firearms licence. Australia - they are banned. Sometimes it is very good to live here.

If I can save the $200 tax, as well as passage may prompt manufacturers to drop pricing, making suppressor ownership a bit more affordable, I'll wait to get mine :-)

I have an old .22 with a screw on pot, a 30 cal with a screw on pot, and a 10/22 with a fully suppressed Ranger carbon tension match barrel - this is quieter than an air rifle, especially with the CCI 45gr suppressor ammo.

Hi All you guys - hear that the HPA is stalled in committee before congress. Suggest that all USA based members contact their congressman/woman and urge them to give it support.

The HPA has been reintroduced into both the Senate and the House. It is still in committee and with the agenda Trump is pushing I do not see it passing this year. I hope I am wrong, but with Tax Reform, Immigration Reform, and Repeal/ Replace the ACA I do not see that happening. No matter what happens it will not pass without everyone taking an active role in contacting there representatives.

Nothing like a bit of voter pressure to 'encourage' a poly to travel in a certain direction. After all most are creatures of habit anfd only want to keep their snout in the public trough. Trump may be the rare exception - looks like he is on a mission and from the outside looking in I think at the end of the day he will be good for America.

I think Trump will be an unpopular president for most of our lives, but history will judge him in a better light. I say that because people are uncomfortable with change and the Left has made identity politics and entitlements such a huge issue. If he can start dropping the national debt and do half the things he said during the campaign we will be on a good start to fixing our country.

I just got done building my ar-15 in 6.5 grendell, and just heard about the HPA from the local gunsmith. I plan to wait and see and hopefully it will pass and then I plan to get a suppressor.

I've contacted my Senators and my Representative to encourage them get behind the HPA effort. I also have reached out to State legislators about passing something at that level. Don't know whether the timing is right, what with the ignorance and hysteria being promulgated in the media currently (what with mid-term elections coming up and all) but I am hopeful. That said, I will cross my fingers but won't hold my breath (I don't like turning blue and falling down) -- and I have been talking to a local Class 3 dealer about particulars. I am really leaning towards a Recce 5 from Griffin Armament (https://www.griffinarmament.com/Recce-5-Silencer-p/garec5.htm) and I will probably act this Fall/Winter regardless of whether legislation has moved on the issue.

An update: The SilencerShop has a sale going on right now. Combined with their paperless application process and slick simultaneous gun trust arrangement, I just couldn't resist. Recce 5 in the works...

Old Thread but can't resist. It is now 2022 and suppressors are still NFA. I have concluded that once NFA, always NFA. I have waited long enough. If they ever become deregulated it will be long after my death. I presently have one "in jail" with Silencer Central.
