Is any body having this problem with night vision being too bright? I know it sounds crazy but it was to bright to see any animals. Is there any way to adjust this ?

I may be over-simplifying things, if so, sorry.
Check that the scope has indeed switched to Night Vision. The widgets turn to yellow on mine, so it's easy to tell.
Adjust the light gathering and display settings within the scope.
Turn down your IR, you may be flooding the area especially if there is a lot of vegetation between you and the target.
Others may be able to offer better solutions.

I've noticed that the screen is a brighter in NV mode, since I updated to the latest firmware V2.1.06.747.

Are you lying down when shooting? The reason I ask this is as wobblybootie says it is very easy to flood your scope with too much light from close objects when you really want to be looking past them to your target. You need to spend a little time setting up your ir. What ir are you using ?

Yes it was in night vision mode, using ATN IR, shooting from elevated blind. Not my first night vision scope, just my first like this.

Things to try. First set your light sensitivity to medium. Using the scope at night, start with your IR torch off. Can you see anything thru without the IR. Now turn the IR on at the low setting. Increase the IR to medium, then to high. Tell us at which point the scope becomes too bright and we can better help you decide what the issue might be. If you capture the sequence on video, then publish it here, you will get better help faster.

Are you sure you have your scope setup? If I recall correctly, you said you bought a 5x20 but you keep mentioning various conditions at "3x" in your posts. There is no 3x on a 5x20 scope. I suspect you need to work on setting up the correct parameters and options in the scope. They are NOT plug and play. Also, you need some light for NV to work. Either moon light, IR illuminator or flashlight. These are not thermal like the THOR scopes.

In your reply post you say "no IR", you have to have IR. I wanted you to start with no IR then turn up the IR to see when it became too bright.

Hello, I also am having night vision troubles. I have owned the scope since January and it worked great. I was able to see coyote well past 250 yards no problem and deer out past 400 yards. Using T50 IR. After the last update the IR began to flood the screen so I could not see anything through it. However I could see during a full moon or with indirect IR . Tried two IR's with same result. Sent the scope back to ATN, awaiting for them to take a look

Is a stuck filter something that can be fixed without sending it in? I have already shipped it for repair, but just wondering.

Just ensure that you IR is actually working as well. A quick shine of the torch on the wall in a dark room and look at it with your phone and you'll know (if it's off you rig). The battery life of this torch isn't good. No IR no decent image unless you've got good/great moonlight. As for Jon's problem, I'd reckon an obstruction reflecting back (barrel, front sight, grass/bushes being lit up in FOV by IR), anyway doesn't matter at this stage as he has sent it back to ATN. So in daylight when you switch to night mode by selecting the double insertecting circle's in the menu you hear a click and the writing on the screen changes colour. Does the image in daylight now whiteout with a pink hue?

Day time mode is fine .can hear shutter clicking between day/ night when button is pressed. I know you can hear the shutter clicking but does the scope white out when you switch it to night mode in daylight? Does the writing change colour when swapping from day to night mode? If the scope does white out temporarily in daylight the next question I'll ask is are you taking off the day filter when using the scope at night (the black threaded disc with the hole in the centre) I'm asking a series of questions for a reason, we've had people not removing the filter etc hence getting bad NV results.

I use Butler creek cap with 12mm hole in the centre and leave it shut at night with a powerful IR and shoot foxes out to 250yrds . It seems to make the image a lot sharper with little loss of range. Have tried with the cap open and the image does white out a bit especially in light coloured cover.

Yes to first question I have tried it with lens cap on & off also tried it with the tube on & no end cap Hi foxshoot2 Could you post a picture of your rig. What setting is your night sensitivity on? My apologies btw, I mixed you up with a stuck IR filter opposed to over exposure. Mine over exposes when I get something between me and target. If I'm shooting prone it lights the grass up when the IR is side slung. I now have my IR on top of the objective which seemed to help and leaving the sunshade on (filter hole plate removed) Cheers, BunnyBlaster

I don't want to get too many cooks in the kitchen on this problem so I'd just like to say that the IR850-B1 Illuminator also has focus capability besides the three brightness levels. Mine came in Flood mode so any target close was washed out and long range was dark. Don't try to use the scope on targets closer than ~50-75'. I don't think the 5x scopes will focus on anything that close anyway.
